Our Story

My husband and I grew up along the coast, yet the true magic of Half Moon Bay remained a delightful secret until we returned as adults. It was then that our story truly began – an unexpected, head-over-heels love affair with Half Moon Bay and every single incredible thing it offers! Even now, the twinkling lights of Main Street never fail to spark joy.

 

And who would have guessed that this stunning coastline and buzzing community, a place practically pulsating with artistic expression, held such a treasure trove of mouthwatering food? It hit our family like a surprising explosion of flavor, and a lightbulb went off: the only way to truly dive headfirst into the heart of this coastal gem was on foot, savoring each unique taste and connecting with the passionate artisans behind them. Thus, our food tour dream took root!

 

Just imagine that jolt of pure pleasure from a strong, hot, dark French roast coffee embracing ice-cold milk on a crisp Half Moon Bay morning – a feeling we get to enjoy so often! Or the tantalizing tango of smoky char-grilled octopus with the bright, fresh whisper of shaved fennel.

 

But wait, how many towns can brag about the chance to snag the freshest fish or crab straight off the boats in their harbor? And our vibrant farming community? It's a treasure, showering us with farm-fresh eggs, the simple joy of pick-your-own strawberries, and so many other wonderful back-to-basics experiences.

 

It's all like that perfect spicy margarita, where the smoky intrigue of mezcal sets your taste buds dancing with the zesty lime and the playful zing of a Tajín rim. Our tours are crafted to ignite all your senses, immersing you in the authentic flavors and captivating stories that make our historic town so utterly special. Come wander with us, one surprising and delicious step at a time, and discover the art and flavors of Half Moon Bay!

FAVORITE DRINKS:
Strong, hot, dark French roast coffee with Ice cold milk, Ice cold IPA – 7%, bold and spicy Bloody Mary, and a well-balanced Bourbon Old Fashioned.


FAVORITE FOOD:
I set out to find the best grilled Salmon, Cod, or Halibut, fish taco and have come up with “Mikes top five”. I love Mexican food – from what I am told and experienced myself “hands down, California has the best Mexican food”. On my journeys I make frequent visits to New Mexico and people there tell me this every time I go there. I must say that New Mexico does have great Hatch Chilies.


FUN FACTS:
Aries – and yes do like a sense of adventure, with great food and company. Grew up local and joined the Navy as a Seabee Builder until I retired in 2012. My outdoor activities include hiking biking and paddleboarding – we live in such a wonderful area that you just can’t help but be outside. Married with 4 children (well grown adults with families and lives of their own). Married to my best friend and the most supportive partner anyone could ever ask for.

FAVORITE FOOD:

How can a foodie be tasked to pick just one!?!

I do have my "Go to Treats"...Lightly battered, lightly fried fresh oysters, char grilled octopus with shaved fennel and of course the comfort foods of my childhood.

Mmmm ...let's not forget colorful fresh fruits & veggies straight from the garden or Farmer's Market ready to savor as is or transformed into another culinary delight always a treat as well!

FUN FACTS:

Travel Travel Travel embedding as many locals experiences as I can get wind of! Especially interested in the Farmer's Market adventures around the world.

Aside from our tour business I am a local elementary theatre teacher focusing on puppetry. Puppets are not just about putting on a show; they're about unlocking language skills, celebrating cultures, and boosting confidence like a superhero cape! Puppets have this amazing knack for creating a super chill environment where even the shyest students feel brave enough to speak up!

FAVORITE DRINKS:
I particularly enjoy a well-crafted spicy margarita, especially one featuring the smoky notes of mezcal and the flavorful kick of a Tajín rim. Beyond that, I appreciate the rich and aromatic complexity of a deeply flavored chai tea. Lastly, a skillfully made soju cocktail is always a welcome choice.


FAVORITE FOOD:

Favorite food? It's like trying to pick a favorite star in the sky – there are just SO many dazzling contenders! But if I absolutely have to narrow it down, let's just say my taste buds do a happy dance for things like the vibrant, lime-tinged explosion that is aguachile! Then there's the sleek sophistication of sushi, each little roll a bite-sized masterpiece. And who can resist the sheer joy of a perfectly crafted taco? It's like a flavor hug in a tortilla!

But the real fun starts when I get into the kitchen! Whether it's whipping up some seriously decadent French toast (prepare for a sugar rush of happiness!) or slow-smoking some jerk chicken that'll make your taste buds sing, creating deliciousness is my jam. The bolder, the better – my palate is always ready for an adventure!


FUN FACTS:
My passport and my local map are equally marked with delicious destinations! If I taste something truly amazing, you can bet I'll be finding a way to experience that flavor again, no matter the distance. For me, food is absolutely a way to connect and show care, a "Love Language". I genuinely enjoy the process of cooking for others and continuously honing my culinary abilities.
